I did it! 50,046 words in a novel I decided to write for NaNoWriMo 2017. I started this adventure doubting I would achieve that goal and I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled it out of the bag on the final day, to limp across the finish line. Here's the synopsis I wrote back in October 2017 for the book and the cover that I had designed by a nice lady in Brazil. The Sirrupa family run it all. From High-quality imports to addictive “street” products. Nothing comes into the country without their knowledge, at least that had been the case until now. An underground movement rebelling against this monopoly will go to any lengths to undermine the Sirrupa domination of the market. The Sirrupa Family also influence power within the Police, Government and food retail, making any disruption to the market nigh impossible. One man is about to change all this. Known as the Lichfield Ice Cream King to his underground followers, Spencer to his friends, he has been planting the seed

A few years ago I purchased a pair of QuietOn noise-cancelling earplugs from an Indigogo campaign. They work really well and I still use them today. The main problem with them is that they are too large to sleep with. This was the main reason for buying them, to cut down on snoring noises from our dog and "other family members". I soon realised that I could sleep with just one earbud in, the ear that is not pressed into the pillow, but this only has an effect that is good for blocking outside noises (meaning the local cockerels and dogs). The reduced effectiveness is too much to handle the low-frequency sounds associated with snoring. Enter QuietOn Sleep, the new, improved earbuds (that were a little overdue) that promised to be designed for sleeping. The company had taken all the comments and criticism from the first product and produced a unit that was even smaller and had better acoustic properties. This seemed like it would be ideal, and I looked forward to the day th
The trip back to the airport was emotional. Been 8 months since I've seen my bestest buddy, now won't see him again for another 5 months all going well! Managed to get to the airport with just enough time to spare. Didn't get my GST refund as my name got called to go to the gate whilst I was in the queue. Took a few minutes to get there and thought they'd started boarding early. Went to the gate and they wanted to check some extra details, like "did I have checked luggage" and "have you come from somewhere other than Melbourne". Wasn't sure why they wanted to know, but I got my proper boarding cards and a seat at the front of the boarding queue :) Flight took off on time, 13 and a half hours to Abu Dhabi. Oh, the in-flight entertainment is bust! Seems to be all the seats on the right side of the plane. An hour in and its still not working. Just need to pop down to the servers and give it a restart :) Probably runs Windoze! They had to reboot!
